Augstsprieguma tīkls AS is an independent Transmission System Operator, providing operation of electric power transmission network and ensuring security of electric power supply in Latvia and fulfills following mission: provides power transmission services, based on published transmission service tariffs and provides free third-party access to the transmission network. Augstsprieguma tīkls AS provides operational control of the transmission system and ensures stable operation of transmission system. Responsibilities of Augstsprieguma tīkls AS are to provide:
Development of transmission network and secure interconnection with neighboring power systems;
Operational control of power flows in transmission network, ensuring exchanges of power with neighboring power systems;
Operational control of the power generation equipment, connected to the transmission network;
Supply of distribution network with the electric energy in required amounts and according to the power quality requirements;
Provision of power supply security and stability of transmission system;
Provision of non-discriminating conditions on the transmission system use for all transmission system users;
Provision of control procedures ensuring coordinated operation of power system;
Provision of the information on the web-site, according to legislative requirements of EU.
